The Mono Lake Research Library is a repository of
information on the Mono Basin and related topics. It is maintained at
the Mono Lake Committee Information Center on the corner of Highway 395
and Third St. in Lee Vining, Mono County, CA 93541, and is available by appointment only. Within the research library are documents, books,
files, maps, multimedia, and a herbarium. Certain items may be available
for checkout: contact

call 760-647-6595) to schedule a visit. Also available for a fee
are photocopies.
The Reports and Studies Database is not yet available in final form. When available it will contain a listing of 465 studies compiled by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), plus a list of all of the documents in the Mono Lake Research Library. Over time, we plan to make as many as possible of these documents available online in a Digital Archive. Special thanks to LADWP, Sharon Foley, and Cole Hawkins for contributing to this project.

California Water Rights Search Prototype-If you are searching for a document in the State Water Board's records and have not found it on the Clearinghouse Website or in the Mono Lake Research Library, the best place to search is the California Water Rights Search Prototype- pilot phase covering water rights in the Mono Basin (100,000+ SWRCB documents). If you have used the search on the Clearinghouse and have not found what you are looking for, the water rights database is the best place to start searching.
The Mono Lake Basin Indexed Bibliography was compiled in 1991 by Daniel O. Holmes with funding from Jones & Stokes. Linda Vida edited the Mono Lake Basin Indexed Bibliography in May 2026 with the assistance of Robin Spencer, and provided it to the Mono Lake Committee to share in July 2026. As Linda says in her preface, "most of the items in this bibliography will only be accessible via paper." The Subject Thesaurus and Subject Index provide a broad overview of the document's contents, however users will probably find searching the PDF's 2,108 bibliographic entries for subject terms of interest to be faster and more convenient.
